How We Test

Cutting Through the Roofing Noise

The roofing industry is loud. Salesmen push the materials that pay the highest commission. Manufacturers print glossy brochures full of promises. Homeowners get stuck with the bill when those promises fail.

We built this review process to eliminate that noise. We don’t aggregate Amazon reviews. We don’t rewrite manufacturer press releases. We get on the roof.

Real roofs. Real weather. Zero shortcuts.

Hands-on testing requires dirty hands. We handle the materials. We talk to the crews swinging the hammers. We find the breaking points before you put these products on your house.

How We Choose What to Cover

Flashy marketing gets ignored here. We look for the friction points homeowners and contractors actually face. If a product claims to solve a real problem, it gets our attention.

Asphalt shingles, metal panels, flashing kits, and underlayments make up our core focus. When we do estimates in the field, we listen to what homeowners ask about. If ten people ask about a specific architectural shingle, we buy a bundle and put it to work.

Contractor matching services and warranty programs also go under the microscope. The roofing world is full of bad actors. We want to illuminate the blind spots in these contracts so you know exactly what you’re buying.

Our Evaluation Criteria

A roof has to survive brutal conditions. Our testing reflects that reality. We measure wind resistance, granule loss, installation friction, and warranty loopholes.

We check the sealant strips on asphalt shingles. We drive nails at 90 PSI to see if the fiberglass matting blows through. We leave synthetic underlayment exposed to the sun to test UV degradation. We want
